Trip to Isle of Wight
Middle School students will be travelling next week to the Isle of Wight on the south coast of England. This small island off the south coast of England is a beautiful place to visit. The trip will offer the following educational outcomes:
English
- Total English language immersion
- Studying extracts from modernist and Victorian literature (Forster and Tennyson) Tennyson Trail
Geography
- Consolidate learning of wildlife of the rainforests (Amazon World)
- Understanding of formation of geographical landscapes (Freshwater Bay)
History
- Motte and bailey castles; the English Civil War (Carisbrooke Castle)
- Understand Queen Victoria’s lifestyle and position (Osborne House)
- Consolidate learning of Napoleonic Wars (HMS Victory)
Science
- Geology (Fossil museum and walk, Alum Bay)
PSHE
- Group activities (Wightwaters)
