RISA Music Festival 2018

(english version below)

Cari Genitori,

Tip Tap, Nicaraguan Folk Dance, African Drumming, Signing and Singing, Flamenco, Dance, Maori Stick Games, Rhumba, The Cup Song, Ukulele, Circle Singing, Rhythm Sticks, Your Voice.

************************************************
Dear Parents,

I’m very happy to share with you a report of the annual Risa Music Festival that was held in Ambrit School last Wednesday 11th of April.

Let’s start from the stats:
-233 students from 9 International Schools took part in this amazing experience.
-13 different Workshops about Dance, Rhythm, Voice and Music Instruments.
-Several types of music instruments, the students had a chance to play or listen to Ukulele, Piano, African and Latino-american Percussions.
-A great selection of music styles: Rock, Jazz, Flamenco, Rhumba, Salsa, Folk, Blues, Classic.
Each student took part in 2 different one hour-workshops, sharing the learning and the experience alongside 15-20 children from other schools. Each workshop was guided by a different music or dance teacher.

What really impressed me this year is the attention and the involvement of every pupil, especially in the end of the morning when they all shared their performances in the main auditorium of the school.
These were the workshops offered by the teachers:
Tip Tap, Nicaraguan Folk Dance, African Drumming, Signing and Singing, Flamenco, Dance, Maori Stick Games, Rhumba, The Cup Song, Ukulele, Circle Singing, Rhythm Sticks, Your Voice.
It was great to hear them singing and clapping to the rhythm their hands all together, and personally I was delighted to run my own workshop and to receive a positive feedback from all the participants.

What did students learn during this festival?
I believe that the main lesson was about Music’s endless ways of expression and shapes.
It’s not only a matter of singing, dancing or playing a specific instrument.
It is also about listening, observing, letting the positive emotions and happiness to develop, learning to memorise patterns using the body and the mind, exploring words, movements, numbers, rhythms and melodies. Finally it is about sharing something good with others in order to achieve a positive goal, both individually and as a team.
All of this can be resumed in three words: Play With Music.

I really hope that all of Year 5 Students will keep a good memory of this beautiful day!

Sincerely,

Davide Alivernini
