Odd Socks Day for Anti-Bullying Week

We would like to inform you that Acorn House International will be participating in Anti-Bullying Week from the 12th to the 16th of November. The theme of the week this year is ‘Choose Respect’. Research has shown that a top priority should be to emphasise that bullying is a behaviour choice, and that children and young people can set a positive example by opting to respect each other at school, in their homes, in communities and online.
Primary classes (Year 2-6) will be beginning the week by taking part in Odd Socks Day which will be held on Monday the 12th of November. Odd Socks Day is an opportunity for children to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique! This should help them to see that although some people, and their socks, can seem a little strange to us, they deserve the same treatment and respect that we would like for ourselves. There is no pressure on the children to wear the latest fashion or for parents to buy expensive costumes. All they have to do to take part is wear odd socks to school; it couldn’t be simpler! Odd Socks day will take place on the first day of Anti-Bullying Week to help raise awareness around anti-bullying. We would like to invite participating children to make a donation you think appropriate- which will be donated to an anti-bullying charity. Next week, all details about the charity organisation will be unveiled.

Thank you for your support in helping to raise awareness of this important issue.
