The rising plastic pollution problem has brought into action reduction campaigns all around the world, both non-governmental and statal. Ranging from Puerto Rico to Japan, more than 50 nations all around the world have been united to fight against this ever growing threat.
Plastic has become the miracle product in our world since 1907, helping us in hygiene, convenience, and in simple words it has revolutionized our era. However, one of the properties of this material is that it is not biodegradable. This means that it isn’t capable of being decomposed by bacteria. Many scientists from all around the world have been trying to find an alternative to solve this problem.
In the meantime, nations have been trying to reduce the amount as soon as possible to stop it from reaching an uncontrollable level. An example is India. In mid 2018, the Indian government decided to get rid of all single-use plastics by 2022. It is considered the most demanding program in the world for now.
Other countries that are involved in this campaigning frenzy are European countries, China, Kenya and Morocco. Although different nations, they all fight for the same cause and so should every individual. Simple actions could mean the future of our planet.
