At Acorn House we believe that Information Communication Technology (ICT) is an integral part of the child’s education giving them the opportunity to apply and develop their technological understanding and skills across a wide range of subjects and tasks. With this in mind, the current curriculum for ICT ensures that children’s learning is supported with modern technology and skills appropriate to situations they will encounter at secondary school and beyond.
At AHI children are encouraged to develop a confident and safe approach to the use of ICT with the understanding of the capabilities and flexibility of their resources, with the knowledge that ICT will undoubtedly continue to form a major part in the children’s lives at home, in their continued education and eventually their places of work.

We ensure that the children’s ICT experience and abilities are effective and transferrable across the whole of their learning in school through incorporation into cross curricular project. It is our aim to equip the children with the transferable skills they will need to work effectively across what will undoubtedly be a ‘multi-platformed’ technological society.

During the year, each class will follow 3 units of work in Art and Design, 5 units in ICT and 3-4 units in Design Technology. The core subject matter follows the U.K standard curriculum with changes made to fit in with the school projects and units of work covered within each year group. Links with class teachers will support the creation of a creative cross curricular approach to teaching.
